- 问原因:because、why、reason、due to、result from、stem from、be attributed to、be driven by
- 问结果:lead to、result in、cause、contribute to、so that、consequence、effect
- 问目的:for the sake of、in order to、be intended to、aim to、so as to
|---|---|---|
| because、since、as、due to、thanks to | 原因 | 就在后面 |
| so、thus、therefore、as a result、leading to | 结果 | 在前面 |
| That's why…、This is why…、That helps explain why… |
| to do、in order to、so that | 目的 | 就在后面 |
Why had the Romans buried a million nails? The likely explanation is that the withdrawal was rushed, and they didn’t want the local Caledonians getting their hands on 10 tons of weapon-grade iron.
The Romans buried the nails probably for the sake of ____
- Asaving them for future use.
- Bkeeping them from rusting.
- Cletting them grow in value.
- Dhiding them from the locals.
Why had the Romans buried a million nails?,下一句 The likely explanation is… 题干的 for the sake of 和原文的 Why 是同一个问题的两种问法。
D 的 hiding them from the locals 和原文 didn't want the local Caledonians getting their hands on 说的是同一个动作:不让当地人拿到。
The prevalence of digital payment devices has made it easier to ask customers for a tip. That helps explain why tip requests are creeping into new kinds of services.
Tip requests are creeping into new kinds of services as a result of ____
- Athe advancement of technology.
- Bthe desire for income increase.
- Cthe diversification of business.
- Dthe emergence of tipflation.
That helps explain why tip requests are creeping into new kinds of services A 的 the advancement of technology 是对这件事的概括。
Up until a few decades ago, our visions of the future were largely — though by no means uniformly — glowingly positive. Science and technology would cure all the ills of humanity, leading to lives of fulfilment and opportunity for all.
Our vision of the future used to be inspired by ____
- Aour desire for lives of fulfillment.
- Bour faith in science and technology.
- Cour awareness of potential risks.
- Dour belief in equal opportunity.
原文第 1 段:过去人们对未来充满乐观,因为相信科学技术能治好人类的一切问题,leading to lives of fulfilment and opportunity for all。
B 的 faith in science and technology 才是箭头的起点。
配图待生成 · cause/cause-arrow
A thick near-black arrow points from left to right. On the left end sits a small glowing lightbulb with a gear inside (belief in science and technology). On the right end sit two small icons: a smiling figure under a sun (fulfilling life) and an open door (opportunity). Below, a faded dashed copy of the same two right-hand icons is being dragged by a red (#d42a10) hand-drawn curved arrow back to the left end, with a red cross over it to show this move is wrong. Minimal, clean lines, no text, no letters, no logos.
